⚡ The Birth of Provolt: Powering India’s EV Future

In early 2019, as India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape began to stir with promise, a small team of engineers and entrepreneurs based in Bengaluru saw a glaring gap—not in the vehicles themselves, but in the infrastructure that powered them. Charging stations were scarce, fragmented, and often unreliable. The dream of a clean, electric future was being held back by a lack of dependable charging solutions.

Among them was a former automotive systems engineer who had spent years working on embedded hardware for EVs. Frustrated by the lack of scalable charging options, he teamed up with a logistics entrepreneur and a software architect. Together, they envisioned a company that wouldn’t just sell chargers—it would build an ecosystem.

They called it Provolt, short for “Progressive Voltage”.

🔧 From Garage to Grid

The first prototype was built in a rented garage in Mahadevapura. It was a modest 3.3kW socket charger, designed to be affordable and compatible with two-wheelers and three-wheelers. But the real innovation was in the backend: a cloud-based dashboard that allowed users to monitor charging sessions, track energy usage, and even schedule maintenance.

By mid-2020, Provolt had partnered with local EV dealerships and fleet operators, offering end-to-end installation, branding, and servicing. Their pitch was simple: “Life in the foreground. Charging in the background.”

🌐 Scaling with Purpose

As demand grew, Provolt expanded its lineup—from basic domestic sockets to 240kW DC fast chargers for buses and trucks. They didn’t just sell hardware; they offered site assessments, onboarding, approvals, financing, CMS integration, and 24/7 support. Their chargers quietly began appearing in apartment complexes, office parks, and highway rest stops.

By 2025, Provolt had installed over 30,000 chargers across 100+ cities, saving millions of kilograms of CO₂ emissions.
